The Next Generation of Hominid Reconstructions

Seamlessly blending Art and Science to expand our knowledge of what it means to be human.

Our Philosophy

At Pithecus, public awareness of scientific discoveries is of utmost importance to us. We believe that visual media is essential for sharing new knowledge about human evolution around the world. To this end, we are developing novel methods of soft tissue approximation to produce visual depictions of ancient primates - called “hominids” - that are more accurate than ever before.

Our Reconstructions

Not only do we strive to make sure our reconstructions are as realistic as possible, but we endeavor to make sure that every single model is supported by peer-reviewed research.

Our Research

We contribute to the scientific literature in ways that no one ever has before. Our peer-reviewed research articles are “open access”, which means that they can be shared with anybody, anywhere, and at any time.

“Science is not a heartless pursuit of objective information; it is a creative human activity.”

— Stephen Jay Gould

$12.00
Every month

For the cost of a few coffees a month, you can help our research progress and fund new and improved reconstructions. This year we will be investing heavily into expanding our platform and turning our reconstructions into fully realized silicone-painted and hair-punched restorations. Your first name and last initial will be added to our Hall of Patrons page!
