Our Reconstructions

Pithecus reconstructions are sculpted by hand using measurements of soft tissue thicknesses at various points on the skull. Every single point is tailored to each individual skull using equations developed from actual measurements of primates, including humans. Previous reconstructions have relied on averages but this approach completely ignores individual variation. This is what sets our reconstructions apart. We understand that no two skulls are alike and that the soft tissues of the face are no different.

The reconstructions below will undergo further analysis. Their facial features, expression, and skin textures are tentative. The final results will be molded, cast in resin and silicone, and will feature a painted and hair-punched finish to breathe life into the following individuals we were honored to reconstruct.
